Engagement

Brandi’s story

On Tuesday August 27th, I was driving home, expecting only to find Andy waiting for me to head to the grocery for our impending holiday trip to Hocking Hills.  Little did I know what was REALLY waiting for me!  I was completely and totally surprised!  We designed the ring together which was not only fun and exciting but very special.  Knowing that we were creating something completely original that was a design we imagined together was perfect.  However, because I knew it was coming, I told Andy not to worry about trying to surprise me (as I was certain that was going to be impossible).  Somehow, he managed to pull the wool over my eyes and I was absolutely shocked to drive up to the house to find this!  I am the happiest and luckiest person in the world and I told him of course I couldn’t wait to say yes!

Proposal full size yes

Andy’s Story:-

After having had the idea of proposing at a parachute jump shot down (not literally), I had to come up with some other ideas to surprise Brandi.  Although I am pretty good at keeping secrets it is hard to wait for so long. As a result and because we had designed the ring together, it was going to be very difficult to surprise her but I wanted it to be special.

I had a couple of ideas in my head and the day our jeweler called to tell me it was finished I immediately jumped in the car to pick it up but of course didn’t tell Brandi!  I had a huge box of chalk to draw the proposal and I didn’t think I would need it all, but I was wrong!

I got to her house fairly early while she was still at work and got to work in the middle of the road, drawing out the proposal. Occasionally I would have to stop to let a bus or car drive by and along with various pedestrians I got a lot of people offering me congratulations and saying they hoped she would say yes.

Eventually, and much chalk later I had the proposal done and then had the agonising wait for her to get home. I was keeping in touch with her boss via text messages so knew that Brandi had left work, but was also planning to stop at the grocery. In the meantime, every vehicle that drove over the chalk would rub some chalk off so I would have to dart back into the road and repaint it all again.

She finally arrived home,  stopped in the middle of the road and was completely shocked.  I think her exact words were, “Is this really happening?”  I ran out into the road, practically pulled her out the car, got down on one knee and asked her to Marry Me.  Obviously she said yes!

The really cool thing that I hadn’t thought of, was that she would see the sign in the road for about a week out of the kitchen window – a great memento of a fantastic day.

Oh – and it was a complete surprise to Brandi – bonus points 😉
